The Wonders of the South (8 days)

Day 1: Arrival in Marrakech
Welcome at the airport and transfer to your Riad in the Medina. Accommodation with half-board.

Day 2: Marrakech to Taroudant via Tizi N’Ttest (269 km)
Departure from Marrakech at 8:30 AM towards Taroudant. You will cross the Tizi N’Ttest pass at 2,092 meters, a stunning winding road through the High Atlas Mountains. Depending on the season, you might see blooming almond trees or snowy peaks.

Leaving Marrakech, the route passes through wheat and olive fields irrigated by mountain waters, powering traditional mud-built mills that produce flour.

This road may be closed in winter due to snow. You will pass the village of Tahanaout (995 m), the gateway to the Atlas Mountains.

Visit Tinmel Mosque, built in the 12th century to honor Mehdi Ibn Toumert, founder of the Almohad dynasty. The mosque combines Andalusian and local architectural styles.

Arrive in Taroudant, a historic city surrounded by the High and Anti Atlas, former Saadian capital in the 16th century. Its 7.5 km long ramparts with 130 towers and 19 bastions make it an impressive fortress. The city is known for its leather, wrought iron, painted wood, ceramics, and Berber silver jewelry.

Free lunch, then explore the city walls, the traditional artisan souk, and Assarague square, alive with storytellers, acrobats, and snake charmers. Take a break with mint tea by the ancient walls.

Overnight in Taroudant.

Day 3: Taroudant to Tissint via Igherm and Tagmout (370 km)
Scenic drive to Igherm, a charming Berber village among almond trees. Mint tea break.

Continue to Tagmout, famous for its oasis and Amazigh folklore, especially the Ahwach dance and music.

Arrive in Tissint. Visit the salty waterfalls where you can refresh yourself, the old village visited by Charles de Foucauld, stroll through gardens and palm groves. Discover the salt flats, riverbeds, and the Bani waterfalls.

Overnight in Tissint.

Day 4: Tissint to Erg Chegagat (124 km)
Drive to Chegagat, one of the large Saharan sand dune fields in Morocco. Enjoy a spectacular sunset and spend the night under the stars or in a traditional Berber tent with a local dinner.

Day 5: Chegagat to Agdez (159 km)
Early rise to watch the sunrise over the dunes. Journey to Agdez through impressive geological formations and lush palm oases.

Overnight in Agdez.

Day 6: Agdez to Ouarzazate (73 km)
Explore the Drâa valley with its continuous green oasis, palm trees, henna fields, and fortified villages (ksours). Visit Tin-Zoulin kasbah.

Day 7: Ouarzazate to Marrakech (194 km)
Visit famous kasbahs: Aït Ben Haddou (UNESCO World Heritage), Taourirt, and Tiffoultout. Return to Marrakech via the Tizi n’Tichka road, stopping for panoramic views of the High Atlas.

Day 8: Marrakech sightseeing
Discover this imperial city with its historical monuments: Koutoubia minaret, Djemaa El Fna square, Saadian tombs, Menara gardens, El Badi and Bahia palaces. Wander through colorful souks, enjoy street performances and the lively atmosphere.

Day 9: Transfer to the airport and end of the trip.
